Les (Laszlo) Jozsa passed away on October 5, 2016 after a brief, unexpected illness. He was born on March 18, 1938 in Pestszentlõrinc, Hungary. Loving husband to Erika and beloved father to Alexandra (Gil), Christina (Andrew), John and David (Laura). Proud grandpa to Violette and Isadora. Cherished brother to Joe, Marika (John), Elizabeth (Laszlo) and Frank (Jill). Special son in law to Elizabeth. Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth and brother, George.
Also loved by his extended family, including nieces, nephews and many friends. Les will be remembered fondly by his Sopron classmates, the Hungarian community across British Columbia and his Dunbar tennis buddies. He was very active in his profession and had a long, distinguished career at Forintek. As a renowned forestry expert, carver, artist, an avid tennis player, skier and gardener, Les lived an inspiring and accomplished life. He fit more into one lifetime than many could hope to in 10.
A true Renaissance man, genial emcee, gracious host, and an excellent cook, he leaves an indelible impact on countless people. Like the trees he marveled over, his spirit and influence extend ever skyward, through the people he met, the knowledge he shared or through his presence alone.
Les will be very much missed by the people whose lives he touched and will always be in our hearts.
We are grateful to the doctors and nurses who cared for Les at Vancouver General Hospital and the BC Cancer Agency.
A service in celebration of Les’ life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Our Lady of Hungary, 1810 East 7th, Vancouver, BC. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
For those who wish, a memorial donation may be made to the BC Cancer Agency or charity of your choice.
