Jean Margery Begg

Jean Margery Begg passed away suddenly on January 15th at Crofton Manor.  She was the much loved sister of Mary and the late Dr. Douglas Begg, aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews, and dear friend, confidante and spiritual mentor to countless people both in Vancouver and beyond.

Jean was born in London, England and came to Canada in 1958, to travel and work for a couple of years.  But having being offered the position of head of the Crofton House Junior School a year later, she made Vancouver her home. Jean was a gifted teacher and leader, but she also enjoyed storytelling, writing and producing plays and giving puppet shows, all very much in evidence at Crofton House, but also at St. John's Vancouver Anglican Church where she gave leadership to the children's ministry. Jean's Christian faith was always front and centre in her life. Whether teaching children Bible stories or leading Scripture studies in her home, she was always eager to share the deep comfort that she experienced in knowing the Lord.  Jean was personable and passionate, energetic and so full of fun, just as you see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUC8tn45R_4. She loved the outdoors, whether walking on the beach, hiking, or skiing in the mountains.  Jean will be greatly missed by her family and friends who, nevertheless, have the deep assurance that she is now with the Lord whom she loved and served.

Jean’s memorial service will be at 1 pm Friday, 27 January, 2017 at St. John’s Vancouver Anglican Church, 5350 Baillie Street, Vancouver. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Union Gospel Mission, the Artizo Institute, or the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship.

She strengthened the disciples and encouraged them to remain true to the faith.
