John (Jack) Devereaux
John (Jack) Devereaux was born May 12, 1928 in Vancouver and passed peacefully at VGH on March 6. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Louise Devereaux, with whom he shared a happy life in Vancouver. He was a loving father to Elizabeth (Glee) who learned his passion for music, travel, adventure and skiing. Jack has family in Ottawa, Quebec City, Kingston, and United Kingdom and notably his sister-in-law and her husband, Kay and Roger Wiewel of West Vancouver.
Jack graduated from Lord Byng High School and received his Commerce degree and C.A. from UBC. He worked for several companies including Imperial Tobacco and GenStar where he became VP of Finance, as well as Les Cosman's skiing buddy. He was a patron of the Arts, on the Board of the Playhouse Theatre, and enjoyed many seasons at the Arts Club, Vancouver Opera, and Bard on the Beach. In his latter years, Jack became very active at Brock House where he participated in exercise and wood-working. He had a great and subtle sense humour. He will be greatly missed by close friends and his daughters, Glee and spouse Sue Freeman.
