Phyllis Clark

1924 ~ 2018

The family of Phyllis Clark are sad to announce her passing on January 4, 2018.

On March 3, 1924 George and Annie Simmons welcomed Phyllis Rae Simmons into the world at Carmangay where she lived on the family homestead west of Carmangay. The youngest of five, Phyllis was loved by her sisters Dorothy, Micky, Eileen and her brother Harvey.  After attending the Burwash country school, Phyllis completed her high school in Carmangay then attended Garbutt Business College in Lethbridge with her best friend Goldie, there she completed the stenography course.  Phyllis worked for her room and board in Lethbridge and then worked at the Haig Clinic before marrying the love of her life, Keith Clark on June 21, 1945.

Phyllis and Keith bought their farm in 1946 and it wasn’t long before they started their family welcoming Laree in 1947, Robert in 1949 and Danny in 1953. Phyllis adored her family and was happy to add Terry, Brenda, Bonnie and Howard as sons and daughters-in-law.  Her grand daughters Renee, Simone, Nicole, Darren (Adam), Jennifer (Kale), and Kelsey (Dale) loved her very much.  Phyllis was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren; Brody (Shianne), Megan, April (Mica), Nathan, Garyn, Kash, Bradie, Aron, Alexander and Lumen as well as one great-great-grandson Jaxon.

Phyllis and Keith lived and worked on their farm until 1978 when they built their house in the village of Carmangay.  In 2014 Phyllis moved into St. Therese in Lethbridge for her ease and care.  Keith was close by at Alberta Rose Lodge until his passing on November 29, 2017.

Phyllis will be remembered for her calm, steady, loving nature and for her unwavering devotion to her family.  She lived with grace and an authenticity that was admired by all those who knew her.

A Celebration of Phyllis’ Life will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta.
