Michael Arthur Jordan

Michael Arthur Jordan

August 1951 – May 2018

It is with profound sadness that we announce the May 3rd passing of Michael Arthur Jordan -- a devoted family man, loyal friend, outdoor enthusiast, and dedicated environmental engineer. While his life and legacy cannot be summed up in a few words, Michael was best known for his canoeing expertise and healthy lifestyle, his dedication to family and work, and his unique sense of humour.

He held a special spot in his heart for the beautiful Peace River country where he spent much of his youth. After graduating from UBC in Bio-Resource Engineering, he made Vancouver his home and held increasingly responsible positions with BC Hydro, the Greater Vancouver Regional District, and Canfor where he spent most of his career.

Michael was unabashedly himself: a little quirky, sometimes stubborn, always talkative, and a happy guy with confidence that he could do anything he set his mind to.  He was a passionate home renovator, and an avid commuting cyclist.  His competitive drive served him well, particularly in his marathon and outrigger canoeing.  He had the big heart of an endurance athlete and of a man who cared deeply about the people around him, animals, and the environment.

He will be forever missed by his wife Ann, children Robbie and Rennie, parents Bob and Bunty, brothers Peter and Paul (Anna), three nieces, five nephews, many cousins, in-laws and extended family.

We are very grateful to the doctors and other professionals at the BC Cancer Agency and Vancouver General Hospital for their exceptional care. Memorial donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation.

We love you, Mikey……see you around the next bend!
