Peter McGregor Archibald

8 Apr 1945 – 7 Sept. 2018

Sadly, we announce the passing of Peter McGregor Archibald. He will be remembered by sons Scott and Michael, their mother Katharine, brothers Bruce (Katherine) and Alan (Anne), and sister-in-law Carla Archibald, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by son Patrick and brother John.

Pete graduated from Mount Allison University in 1967 and received his LLB from Dalhousie University in 1970. He had a distinguished career in labour law that lasted more than 40 years. He was recognized as one of Canada’s leading employment lawyers and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1984. Pete finished his career as a Vice Chair of the Labour Relations Board. He was an avid sportsman in his younger years, and he played quarterback for the Mount Allison Mounties football team. Throughout his life, Pete enjoyed following sports, reading crime novels and popular nonfiction, and spending time on his beloved Hornby Island.

A celebration of Pete’s life will be held at The Arbutus Club, 2001 Nanton Avenue, Vancouver on Friday, September 21, 2018, from 2-4pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his memory to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
