Anthony Petrina

How very sad it is that Tony has left us. As a fellow employee at Placer Dome, and close colleague while he was CEO, I deeply miss him. He was a person of great character and principle, who was very supportive of those of us who worked with him and for him. He leaves us with marvelous memories of our time together. Good bye, Tony.

My heartfelt sympathy to Gloria. You have lost a good man, but I am sure you have many happy memories of your time together. I worked with Tony at Placer and always had a lot of respect for him and his judgement. He was both a leader and, at the same time, a miner's miner. He will be missed in the mining fraternity.

My condolences to the family of Tony Petrina who I met in the early 1960s through the Catholic Church at Merritt BC. During my university years I worked summers at Craigmont Mines where Tony was the manager. I have fond memories of my chats, above and under ground, with Tony who once let me read an engineering paper he wrote on ground support techniques. He made time to share his experiences and thoughts, and he encouraged me to pursue my formal education. Tony made a lasting impression on me and the many others who met him.
